WE HAD TWO GREAT WOMEN ON OUR SHOW TODAY...FIRST UP AUTHOR AND BROADCASTER JUDY GAMAN WHO TALKED ABOUT LIVING TO BE A HEALTHY, HAPPY 100. THEN ALEXIS HUNTER ABOUT HER BOOK JOI LANSING A BODY TO DIE FOR...A LOVE STORY..
Donnie I had a double threat. Two really great women. First up was best selling author Judy Gaman. We discussed her book Age To Perfection: How To Thrive To 100, Happy, Healthy And Wise. She told us stories about the basic path to get there, eat healthy, keep sharp and many other tips We talked about her dear friend Lucille that was a centenarian. Lucille was a hoot and more active then the three of us. She was sharp and funny and still did the bicycle exercise before she went to bed. She traveled all over with Judy and had such a joy of living. She became one of Judy's dearest friends. Her next book that will be out soon is Love, Life and Lucille...A memoir about a centenarian that changed my life forever. As a tribute to her pal. I know I'm going to read it. How lucky we all would be to have a Lucille in our lives. Judy is a warm, positive person with a great sense of humor. We loved her and want her back on when her next book is released.
Next was my pal Alexis Hunter talking about her book Joi Lansing..A Body To Die For. Donnie kept looking at Alex's picture and muttering she is totally my type. She was open and fun. Of course we both loved her as well. When the podcast was finished I called Alex and found out new scoops. I asked about the ring Joi gave her. She still wears it to this day. She sent me a pic, so beautiful. Also Stan, Jois husband in name only did not know that Joi and Alex were a couple. Two years after Jois death from cancer they met up again and Stan asked her the question. Donnie and I both agreed that Alex's book should be a movie. A sex symbol that dated Sinatra, Sid Caeser and lots of others was then in a same sex relationship wouldn't fly. She'd have been a pariah, this is the late 60's and early 70's. Alex was called Rachel Hunter and passed off as Jois baby sister. Its a great read. A beautiful love story with a heartbreaking ending. Its a must read, must be a movie..
I want to thank Judy and Alexis for coming on the show and being positive, warm and very endearing . WE LOVED YOU BOTH!!
Mostly thanks to our listeners. We so appreciate you

TRUE STORIES OF TINSELTOWN: I SPEAK TO AUTHOR MICHAEL DRUXMAN ABOUT IDA LUPINO, HIS MANY BOOKS AND THREE ACT PLAYS, KATE SMITH VERSUS DINAH SHORE AND MUCH MORE....
I had fun talking to Author Michael Druxman, We talked about so many things. He has authored numerous books and three act plays on true Hollywood stories and people. Michael was also a publicist to the stars. He is written about in a book about the Oscars because of his amazing campaign to get a song nominated for best song. He talks of lots of Hollywood Scoops, what was on Barbara Paytons ceiling? We talked his three act three person play about Barbara Payton, Tom Neal and Franchot Tone. His latest is on Ida Lupino whom he met more then a few times. The story about Kate Smith versus Dinah Shore is a good one. It was a fun chat.
Thanks so much to Michael for being a wonderful guest.

I TALK TO THE ADORABLE JESSICA RAINS, DAUGHTER OF ACTOR/FARMER CLAUDE RAINS. SHE WAS A LOT OF FUN....
I talked to Jessica Rains, she is the daughter of one my fave actors Claude Rains. She was a joy. We talked about being the daughter of an actor/farmer. How Claude brought his wife and baby Jessica to the set to ease Bette Davis's ardor. We talked her interesting run in with Joan Crawford at Christinas Birthday Party. Jessica never went back! She told us about her farmer dad, her two stepmoms, how her dad felt about her going into acting. One of the funniest stories is Jessica going to a website devoted to her father with people talking about having sex with him. It grossed her out. Who could blame her. We hear about her trips to Morocco and Key West for the annual Humphrey Bogart fest hosted by his son Steven. Much fun was had by all. Ironically I had just watched a movie on youtube before Jessica came on, not knowing she was in the film. Its called Scream Pretty Peggy. Bette Davis was in the film but they never saw each other. I highly recommend it. Its a hoot!! Check to Jessicas eyeballing scene right in the beginning of the film. She's the office worker helping the college kids with getting jobs. Its an Emmy performance! We chatted for an hour and I had a fabulous time. Jessica is a doll. You'll love her too.
Jessica comes on at the 3:52 mark. Very cute..
I want to thank Jessica for coming on. She is really a wonderful woman. I had a lot of fun. I'm having a rolly made for her for best eye rolls in a seventies television movie!! Bravo Jessica!!
Thanks mostly to the listeners. I have some good shows coming up..
WE TALK TO THE FABULOUS DAVID SELBY ABOUT DARK SHADOWS, THE TRUTH OF MANIACAL LAUGHS, WORKING WITH BARBRA STREISAND, MEETING THE OBAMAS AND SO MUCH MORE....
What better day then Valentines Day to post my Dark Shadows crush (my crush in general) David Selby's interview. He was so great. He was charming, funny, honest and a total delight, can you tell I love him..HA!! We talked Dark Shadows and his pals, being married as a sex symbol, the truth behind maniacal laughs and lots more. WE also talked about the movies he did and what is was like working with Barbra Streisand, legendary director George Cukor on the film Rich And Famous and how great Candace Bergan and Jaqueline Bissett were to work with. We got to Falcon Crest and discussed the wonderful Jane Wyman. We also talked about the guest stars that were on the show..Mel Ferrer, Cesar Romero, and a bevy of classic movie goddesses. Kim Novack was a sweetie, his character had an affair with Gina Lolabrigida..OOH LAH LAH...Lana Turner was not Jane Wymans favorite gal, I don't think they ran with the same crowd and lots more. We talked about him being on The Waltons and being the ONLY man other then John Walton to give Livvy a romantic kiss. Check Davids IMDB page if you want to be impressed. He's done so many great things and is still working. Lots of Theatre as well. He talked about how delightful President Obama and Michelle were when he met them. I could have talked to David for hours. I want to do a ten episode podcast titled David Selby Speaks. He is endlessly fascinating and would never be boring..
Thanks so much to David for kindly agreeing to come on our show. Truly if you love him already, you'll love him more.
Thanks so much to our listeners. We really appreciate you so much.

All things David
His impressive career
I want to thank Sandra Lynn Sandavol for letting me use her rendition of Quentins Theme. Its so beautiful..
Donnie and I speak to our friend Joe Montaperto. We talk about lots of stuff. Joes two already published books, The Edge Of Whiteness And Lovely Chaos. Both books are great. He also told us about his just finished his new book Nobody Gets Out Of Catering Alive... It sounds like a fun read. Joe was rather curmudgeonly, definitely the guy that tells kids "GET OUTTA MY YARD!!" WE also discussed his trips to the Philippines to visit his lovely girlfriend Rose. Last year he told Rose that she was getting plump so she snuck outside to eat a bag a potato chips. Joe caught her. His next visit Rose was emancipated and chomped her chips right in Joes face..GO ROSE GO!! He also describes the poverty in the country and lots more stuff. We had a lot of fun, just us three pals! Joe has a calendar and noted it was a year to the day we interviewed him for The Groovy Podcast. Donnie coined the word that it was our friendaversary!! We cheers with coors light. Very classy..HA!! Its a fun show with three pals.
Thanks to our curmudgeonly friend Joe Montaperto. He was fun, lively and interesting as always.

True Tales Of Tinseltown: I SPEAK TO THE LOVELY ALEXIS HUNTER ABOUT HER BOOK JOI LANSING...A BODY TO DIE FOR..A LOVE STORY...REALLY GOOD INTERVIEW.
When I first talked to Alexis Hunter I could not place who Joi Lansing was..Then I went to IMDB and was AH HAA!!! She was in movies and lots of TV. I personally remember her in Marriage Go Round starring Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. I also remembered seeing her on The Beverly Hillbillies playing Gladys Platt. She did so much more. She was a gorgeous blonde bombshell. Alex wrote her book Joi Lansing...A Body To Die For..A Love Story. What a book. I highly recommend it. Its about the last three years of Jois life. Alex and Joi were inseparable. It has laughs, great stories, Jois despair at growing older and getting no more parts and ultimately tragedy as Joi lost her life at age 43 of cancer. Alex was with her through it all. Because being in a lesbian relationship would have been a career ender for Joi, they called Alex Rachel and she was introduced as Jois kid sister. You can buy the book at amazon.com. Just check out her reviews. ALL FIVE STARS. We also talked how it should be a movie and who Alex thought should play them. Alex is a fantastic woman and I now proudly call her my friend. This is a really good interview. Alex was honest and very warm and funny.
I want to thank Alex for being on my show and being my friend.
Mostly thanks to the listeners. There are so many great shows I have lined up.

MY GUEST IS JOHN O’DOWD THE AUTHOR OF KISS TOMORROW GOODBYE :THE BARBARA PAYTON STORY. WE DISCUSS HER INCREDIBLY TRAGIC LIFE HER ALMOST STARDOM TO HER DESCENT TO SKID ROW……
Author John O'Dowd and I discussed his book on Barbara Payton. What a sad tale. He talked from her childhood, to almost stardom and her tragic last years as a prostitute on Skid Row. We talked about her love/lust triangle with Franchot Tone and Tom Neal. John had the cooperation of Barbara's family, her sister in law that just died last week and Barbaras son John Lee Payton. J.L.P wrote the foreword for the book. My heart broke for him. What a childhood he had. He holds no bitterness towards his mom and remembers many of the good times he had with her. He also had some horrible times as well. Her life was not pretty and she brought it all on herself but you can't help feeling something after you read this book. Its not candy coated. You may feel loathing, anger and hopefully sad for this tragic soul. She had it all and threw it all away. If you haven't read the book I highly recommend it.
Thanks so much to John O'Dowd. My fingers are crossed that this time a movie will be made about Barbara. HBO should snap it up. It should be three parter as 90 minutes or two hours is not enough to do her story justice.
Thanks to the listeners. I'm hoping I'm getting some new ones. There are lots of great guests and topics ahead.
As a PS
John wanted me to correct that when the family moved to Odessa Texas John said they bought a trailor court rather then a mobile court.

I TALK TO AUTHOR PATRICK C BYRNE ABOUT HIS BOOK DOUBLE ENTENDRE..THE PARALLEL LIVES OF MAE WEST AND RAE BOURBON.. FUN PODCAST...
I talked to Author Patrick C Byrne about his book Double Entendre: The Parallel Lives Of Mae West and Rae Bourbon. I had never heard of Rae Bourbon before Patrick contacted me. He was a fascinating guy, he was a female impersonator and was called The Lenny Bruce of Drag Queens. Rae was pretty outrageous in his day and his performances were raided by police many times. We talk his alleged sex change and his very tragic demise. Get to know Rae, what a character. What can I say about Mae. She was ahead of her time. Wrote a play called Sex and it was raided by the coppers as well. We talk her coming to Hollywood, her love life, her fascination with muscle men and lots more. I remember seeing Mae as a very young girl on some program when she was old Mae. She scared me. The plastic surgery, the hairpieces, the ancient white formal evening dress. Mae was very health conscious but did love her bon bons. We talked her later films, Sextette and Myra Beckingridge and wondered if Mae still thought she was the hot tamale she was in her youth. All in all it was a fun show. Patrick was a great guest.
Thanks so much to Patrick for coming on the show...Finally.. We had tons of mishaps along the way but it was worth the wait. Patrick was fabu. The book is a great read!
Mostly thanks to the listeners. I will hopefully have my new website up for True Stories Of Tinseltown on Monday. I will also be posting the show Donnie and I did Monday. Lots of editing. EEEK!
